Craig Benton, Yorkshire entrepreneur and founder
of the export company, Luminar and the prestigious London Deli Company’s
entrepreneurial flair first became apparent at school when he set
up a covert tuck shop out of a musical instrument case and was soon
earning £100 a day in the playground. He left school to learn
his trade as a brand ambassador and buyer before setting up Luminar
in 2011 when he was only 24 years old. On a trip to the Middle East
last year, he spotted a huge demand for high end, premium UK produce
and decided to create a range of luxury nibbles suitable for export.
In order to appeal to the international market Craig put his branding
skills into action and designed the distinctive Union Jack and London
skyline labelling, christened the brand The London Deli Company and
sourced the top quality ingredients for his exclusive range, which
includes preserves, crisps, biscuits and confectionery, from across
the region and found an excellent local manufacturer. He now aims
to establish the first major distribution centre just outside of York.
Craig’s belief in this export initiative has certainly been
proven with luxury retailers snapping up the products. Following his
success in the Middle East, Craig is now in talks with companies all
over the world, including Europe, India, China and the USA. |
